Moms come together to share and hear birth stories (without the scary drama) and stories of motherhood. This event is for all moms. It doesn't matter where or how you gave birth. We celebrate face to face friendships, resilience, mentoring, learning, growing in the journey. No cost. Held the last Thursday of each month.
Babywearing 101 is the perfect opportunity to learn safe and proper carrying of babies from newborn to toddler. Although there are many different styles and brands of baby carriers, this class covers the very basics on the five different styles of baby carriers. It is designed to be an introduction to baby slings. Babywearing 101 is ideal for those who have never worn a baby and have little or no experience with carriers and even those who have worn their babies but may be looking for more education. We will discuss the different styles and explore your family's unique needs to help you discover the right carrier for you. Topics covered include; one-shoulder vs. two-shoulder carriers, respiration issues, spinal stress issues, correct carrying positions. Also, we will offer demonstrations of the different style of carriers: pouches, ring slings, Asian style carriers (or "mei tais"), soft-structured carriers ("buckle carriers"), stretchy wraps, woven wraps. Birth 201 is a refresher class, and is it filled with our best tips from BIRTH 101 and HOSP 101 plus some additional information on postpartum care & breastfeeding. Class from 1 - 4 pm. Held on the 1st Saturday of every other month. Price is $60 per team. Teams include one expectant mom and her support person(s). Please make childcare arrangements. Only 1 ticket is needed per team.
